Anna Wintour is the kingmaker of the industry. VOGUE isn’t a magazine that I can relate to and it’s not the way I see fashion, but I respect the empire and the work that goes into it. The people who work there are the best in the business and what they turn out represents that. The fashion marketing editor? Literally. the. best. in. the. world. Knows every single piece, from every single collection, from every single season, without fail, at the drop of the hat, and has access to anything, ever.
I think W Mag is fresher in terms of the photoshoots and features they’ve been doing (mostly because of Lori Goldstein, who is a fucking genius), I think Vanity Fair has better writing and features, I think the crew at Lucky is super approachable and has a really relatable voice, I think Teen Vogue is fun and fresh (the only magazine i actually subscribe to actually, even before I interned there or was featured in it) and everyone there is like family, and there are probably 3 other magazines that i like better for other things like the editorial etc.
VOGUE is great at what it does. I kind of view it as the White House of the industry. You don’t always love what it does but you kind of have loyalty and have to pay attention to it because it holds so much power and makes so many things happen.
